Darn and here I thought I was on the path to victory!!

I totally agree, I have often said it's better to ask a question of someone and have them say 'I can't discuss it' or 'yes' or 'no' then it is to never ask the question at all. Now SOME questions I just won't ask as they are FAR from the socially acceptable normal things people should be asking each other such as asking a woman 'are you pregnant?'! I MAY wonder about those types of questions but they just won't be asked by me!! My old neighborhood was FULL of Military people with varying degrees of security clearances and I always told them if they couldn't answer a question that it would not hurt my feeling to be told 'I can't discuss it'. We had one guy who went to work during the Invasion of Iraq when Gen Schwarzkopf did his thing, he worked deep in one of the lower levels of the Pentagon, and didn't come home for 4 or 5 days. When he did come home we all asked him what he had been doing and he said 'I can't tell you' and we ALL let it drop. To this day no one has any idea what he did during that time period and it just isn't a topic of conversation. He is one heck of a wood worker though and does flooring, shelving and trim work that would look good in multi-million dollar homes!!
