Lub-dub lub-dub lub-dub

Lub-dub lub-dub lub-dub lub-dub ..... it's so quiet here I can hear my own heartbeat.

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

I just had another CT on thursday and they say mine still is working too Innocent

....and got to see the HR hitting Yankees send the Orioles back into last season today (15 - 3)......now I hope to fall asleep since I have to get up early and drive 40mins to the bowling alley for my monday 10 games non-stop.

(and buy another 25lbs of sugar since I have 100 hummingbirds again and they have 14 of the 30oz feeders that they empty so fast you would think they are flying piglets with a beak)

My heart is working too but somehow in changing my meds the Dr forgot about my SVT's and I'm not on a med for it, it's not bad nor often so whatever it was I was taking was small just to prevent them. I noticed because I had a couple of episodes while on vacation and when I got my antibiotics for my runny nose I asked the Dr to look at what I was taking and he said 'none of those are for SVT's'. SVT's are when there is an electrical short in the heart and it get's into a funky rhythm and you have to do what jet fighter pilots do to prevent blacking out due to to g forces to stop it, for me it's more annoying then life threatening, but having a faster than normal heartbeat for an extended period of time can be troublesome. I found out I had it when I had no idea what was going on or how to stop it and called the ambulance about 5 years ago and they stopped it in the back with an iv of some drug I've forgotten the name of. In bad cases they can go in and deaden a small part of the heart to stop the SVT's but in my case they aren't that bad and the meds I was on were working, I see my Dr next week and will discuss it with him then. I only had 3 episodes in the whole month I was away so I'm not overly concerned about it at this point. My normal heart rate is in the high 40's to low 50's when I'm resting but when I get an SVT attack it can be in the 110 range and feels like you could feel my heart beating if you put your hand on my chest, it's also not a "lub-dub lub-dub lub-dub" beat either!! 5 years ago it was nearly 200 for over 2 hours before I called the ambulance and I was in the back for less than 2 minutes before they brought it back to normal again. At that time normal was in the upper 60's to low 70's range as I wasn't exercising regularly!!

Magic I am always impressed by your hummingbirds and have used your sugar formula ever since moving to the beach and have 2 feeders the birds love!! I could put out more but the neighbors have put out some too so I let some go to their feeders. I just wish I didn't have to turn the thing upside down to fill it, I may have to come up with a flap on top idea to fill it much easier!! I only fill mine about half way full as they don't drain it in one day, probably because of the neighbors. We also planted a bunch of flowers the bees and hummingbirds like too so that could be another reason.

I hadn't heard of SVT and had to look that one up. Supraventricular tachycardia. I like the way it rolls off the tongue. What triggers an episode?

For me I wasn't using my cpap on the airplane and I think I stopped breathing for a few seconds, I found that if I laid the seat all the way flat it was worse than if I kept it elevated more like a recliner, and even though it wasn't quite as comfortable I slept much better and had no more episodes. I walked around after the lights were out as I had seen several people bring their cpap on the plane but no one else was using one so I didn't either. They can be a pain to use, but I sleep much better when I do, and in the cramped space on the plane I also decided not to use mine either.

Now that's interesting.  I use a cpap too, and am hesitant to travel much because of it. I hadn't known of the SVT complication.  Good to know!

Only SOME people have SVT's and they are NOT  related to whether you use a cpap or not, they are two totally separate things the body deals with. Kind of like fingers and knees, they are both parts of the body and can both hurt but one hurting doesn't mean the other one will or won't. The planes I was on had electrical outlets in First/Business class and even the Economy Plus seats had a cigarette lighter outlet between the seats. The electrical outlets were 220 volt but were setup to use multiple different plugs from different Countries. I had an adapter with me anyway if I had decided to use it but I made the choice not too. I have a brand new one, a model S10 by ResMed and it requires some water in the tank before it will turn on, they gave us a bottle of water but it was a bit bumpy at times and I didn't want to make a mess, nor be the only one using one.

Well good thing we have Dr Mike with us Laughing

I am really used to refilling my 12 feeders all the time (may have to add a couple more now)

Over 100 of them now and most are the lil Rufous hummers that fly to Mexico and back every year and the usual Anna hummers that never leave even when it gets below 15 degrees

The new version of the 30 Oz feeders have the glass bottle with the large opening and the red plastic base is 2 pieces that come apart when you unscrew it and rinse right off with hot water and and easy to refill.

I usually refill 4 empty ones every day around noon and by the next day there is 4 more empty and the rest will be getting close but last until the next day and that is the window where I have 10 feeders so we can see all of them and then a single feeder in front and in back of the house and those are ones where a certain lil Rufous male thinks he owns it so he spends all day chasing them away.

This is the first year in my 30+ years of doing this that I had 10 feeders at the main window since I just hung up another bar across the top of the other so I have 6 feeders on the bottom and right now 4 on top but probably will add 2 more up there and I haven't taken my summer video yet but I will soon.

Next to all those feeders is a patch of old butterfly bushes so they like sitting in there while they take turns eating......and it is impossible to count them but I can tell there is about 100 on the feeders when they have breakfast and dinner and it looks like 50 more sitting on the branches.

I can tell this year they will eat more than 200lbs of sugar.

I always tell my doctor he has to keep me alive until at least 100 years since after I'm gone there won't be anyone there doing this.

Do you know if your h-birds are a different version since they probably fly to Cuba or somewhere in the Caribbean?

This is last month before I hung up another rod above this one.

The Butterfly Bushes are the ones we have too, they love those too but often compete with the bees for space.

I have no idea what kind we have, I will take a video if I can this year so you can see which kind I have.

I love your videos!!
