If I detach from a project, what happens to the work units that have been downloaded to my computer, but not run yet? Will the server know that they won't ever be run and assign them to someone else? Thanks in advance.

When the report deadline passes and your computer hasn't reported the WUs back, the server will assign them to someone else.
The server will get to know

The server will get to know this at latest at the deadline, and will send out the work again if he still needs it. Don't worry.

Hi Bernd,
the other day I accidentally detached my Einstein instead of an another project, so [url=http://einsteinathome.org/workunit/346464] this WU got "stucked" and will never be returned.
Do you have any possibilities to delete it from my account and send it out now before the deadline, if needed?

I'm not the einstein guys but I think the possible problems with letting people cancel their WU's far outweighs the benefits.

I'm not asking for a possibility to cancel my own WU's but I know this WU is lost and will never be returned, and by telling the staff, they could look into it before the deadline and send it out again to someone else, if needed.
I keep my cache as low as possible (0.1 day) because I don't want to let WU's get lost due to fatal hardware problems or, in this case, an accident. I think it's common courtesy towards my fellow crunchers, that they don't have to pay for my mistakes or hardware problems.
Thanks for letting us

Thanks for letting us know.
However we will the automatic process let take care of such lost results, as we don't have time for manual databse interference.
