Here's what my computer reports, whether I reset the project, detach and reattach the project, reload BOINC from scratch, or shake the bones of my ancestors over the browser:
Task h1_0460.40_S5R4__74S5R4a_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file. If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.
Boooga, boooga! What is the solution?

What computer?
What OS?
Which version of BOINC?
Are you using the CPU throttling feature?

Have you set your system clock automatically (time server)?

I have several computers running BOINC, but this is only happening on the following one:
HP Media Center PC Model m1050y (dual processor)
MS Windows XP
BOINC version 5.8.15
No CPU throttling that I'm aware of.
This is a relatively new behavior and started within the past month. Before that, this PC has been running BOINC with no problems.

Pretty much continually. Here's an example:

And yes, the OS is set to automatically check a time server. It's been doing that for at least two years, and I haven't recently changed the time server location.

Here are the project settings for the CPU, if this helps:
Processor usage
Suspend work while computer is on battery power?

Suspend work while computer is in use? yes
'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last 8 minutes
Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last

Enforced by version 5.10.14+ --- minutes
Do work only between the hours of (no restriction)
Leave applications in memory while suspended?

Switch between applications every

Can you please post the contents your global_prefs.xml and (if applicable) global_prefs_override.xml files? You can find it (or them) in your BOINC directory.

Oh never mind...
This one is what is causing it. On multiple CPUs or cores or hyperthreading the CPU throttling causes problems. This is going to be fixed in a future version of BOINC (even BOINC 6.2 has problems with it, as will 6.4, as far as I know).
Set it to 100% and use an external program such as BES or Threadmaster to throttle the CPUs.

Well, that appears to have lifted the curse and my LIGO calcs on this computer appear de-zombified. Sometimes it just takes some extra BRAAAAINS!!
Thanks.
