Hallo!

A week ago there was also a note for this event in German language.

We do hope for this!

Kind regards and happy crunching

If VIRGO has detected a

If VIRGO has detected a signal then, using the results of the LIGO interferometers and the VIRGO signal it is possible to find the position of the source, which may be the NGC4993 galaxy.

Woo! First one for Virgo and  GW170814 is the first event observed by the global 3-detector ligo/virgo network!

Hallo! First attempt and

Hallo!

First attempt and first shot for VIRGO. Congratulations!

But this is not the promissed merging neutron stars. It´s "only" from merging black holes of 21 and 35 SM but 40% more distant than GW150914, the first event. So this type of midd class BH seems to be much more often than foreseen by theory.

So, we do still hope for a pair of merging neutron stars, soon.

Kind regards and happy crunching

I believe this post from the Universe project addresses that issue.  It appears that the author predicted the prevalence of black hole mergers in the paper from 2010.
