How does one process and report all pending jobs but not accept any new work? I will be out of town for awhile and my systems will be down until I return. I want to suspend receiving any new work until I return.

Also, I have noticed that a right click on the Einstein@Home project in BOINC offers four options, two of which I don't understand: Detach..., and Reset Project... Please explain. Thanks,

How do I take a break?

Set your preferences to connect to server 0 days

Detach means you are dropping the project.
Reset means your are clearing the existing Wus
and starting over. You will lose all WUs....

Hope I helped

The 4.2x daemon has a

The 4.2x daemon has a function that will disable work retrieval for a project. However, the 4.2x GUI does not take advantage of this. You have to download BOINCView to use it.

Why not just suspend the project? Then start it again when you get home.

Because any WUs still in process would not get completed in time.

Detach removes all reference of the project from the machine. It loses all work, including work that has been completed but not reported, and will not get more until attached again (with the URL and password).

Reset just dumps all work that the machine has for that project, including work that has been completed, but not reported. Reset will immediately request more work from the project.

On S@H I was able to make a

On S@H I was able to make a clean break on a machine by setting the "Leave at least" under "Disk and memory usage" to an impossibly high value. That way it just worked and returned results as normal until it ran out without downloading more. The S@H and E@H settings seem to all be the same.

Very smart!

Also, if you change a BOINC general preference at one project site (e.g. SETI@Home), it will be propagated to the other projects (Einstein@home, CPDN, Predictor, Pirates, etc.)

P.S. This is a good one for the FAQ!

There is a supported method comming soon. The backend work is done (BOINCView can use it).
