You can tell to "hide" your computer information to the public in your preferences. It would then also not show up on external stat sites.
There is no way to delete your account (immediately) because there are quite some references in the database e.g. in the results to it. Simply deleting it would lead to database inconsistencies.
I will investigate if and how this is possible manually, but I will at least have to wait until all your results have been (automatically) purged from the active database, which is some weeks I think.
if it's a privacy law, you don't ask "why would you want to do that" :) :)
If you signed up, you gave away your information. There is no law that says they must delete these records.
Here's a little snippet relating to internet privacy law: A few companies are creating huge databases full of private information. Websites may even collect email addresses inadvertently. In many cases, there is no prohibition on the dissemination of personal information. The federal government regulates only its own databases, leaving private database owners to decide how and when to distribute collected information.
Basically it all boils down to what the people you gave your information to, want to do with it. They could sell it if they really wanted to. That is why most reputable businessess, etc... are self regulating. They have those little privacy policy links that say they won't do anything with your information. There is nothing saying they can't do anything with your information. That is between you and that particular institution. Nothing to do with law... ;)
I'm a little confused as to why you would sign up, then the same day want to erase your records. Sounds a little sketchy to me...
Looks like being somewhat dangerous (for the database) to manually delete something such as an account.

Honestly - why did you sign up then? You have accepted the "Rules and policies" (available from the fromt page with "read this first!" in bold remark) by doing so, and thus given Einstein@Home the permission to collect and store the information described there for the purposes named there, so I doubt that there is a legal claim on deleting the information you freely transmitted and gave us permission to store.
I'll do what I can to follow your request - but not more.
I'm about leaving the E@H community, and I also would like my account to be deleted.
It's a shame, that E@H people haven't allow for that.
One could say, who gonna get the points from account? I say, anonymous account - like in F@H project.

There is no law regarding a situation like this Bernd. After reading the poster stating it was privacy law, I did some research. You could actually sell the information if you wanted to.

If you don't want your information in the database, there is nothing stopping you from logging in to your account and edit that information.
Then you're really interested in a subject, there is no way to avoid it. You have to read the Manual.
