Hey, I was wondering how I could remove a computer from my profile, The reason is because that computer keeps overheating and crashing, so I would rather keep all my tasks on the computer I am currently on. So if anyone could tell me how to remove a computer from the task list that would be great. Or if an Admin could remove the computer, it is the one with zero credit, "Williams PC" ID: 6589130 And if you could move all the tasks from that computer over to ID: 6588627 "Charles" my Laptop, that would be great.

Thank you.

How can I remove computers?

Hi; I don't think it's possible to delete a computer while there are tasks outstanding. So you have to wait until all the tasks have been processed one way or another.

I'd suggest (if you haven't already) that you select "No New Tasks" under the 'Project' tab (so it changes to "Allow New tasks"). Then on the 'Tasks' tab, select all the tasks and hit the "Abort" button.

Once you've done this, and all the tasks have been retired by the system, you'll find the link at the bottom of the computer page which normally reads "Merge duplicate records of this computer" has a new option beside it, labelled "Delete this computer".

Note it can take some time before all the tasks are retired - if you're lucky, a few days but it can be longer.

Incidentally (although it doesn't apply here) I believe that deleting a computer doesn't affect any points accumulated by the computer.

Hope this helps! BTW this might have been better posted over in the "Problems and Bug reports", where a moderator/dev is more likely to see it (maybe they can move it).

Thanks for your help Neil.

Thanks for your help Neil. What I did was, Set it to "No new tasks" Then I chose "Remove" then I deleted the project, and then I uninstalled BOINC on that computer. If that does not do it, I do not know what will. Hopefully that computer will be removed soon. I'l keep crunching on my laptop though.

And yes as soon as I posted this in this section, I realized the Problems and Bug Report section.

Could I make a suggestion to be able to remove computers from the "Your Computers" section. I think it would be useful.

Thanks again.
