How can I find out if I used this computer name before?

I picked up an cheap Dell I7 installed Linux on it.   I had to pick a name for the computer when I installed Linux.  I picked DXCC.  einstein@home reports that this computer has a lot of total credit. The computer has only been running einstein@home for a couple of hours.  Is it possible that in the past I had a computer using that same name?  Or does someone else?  It doesn't seem like I'd be seeing total credit from someone else's computer with that same name as I used my email address and BOINC password when I chose einstein@home.

It's possible you have used the same name before but it's unlikely that it would carry over from someone else's email address to yours, it's also possible it's a glitch that will fix itself over the next day or so. I think it's pretty likely that at least some of us use the same pc names as other people do but using different email addresses should keep them separate. Only you can see your actual pc names.

The name you choose for an extra computer doesn't matter.  Everything depends on the host ID only.  Others can't see the name you use, even if your computers are not hidden.

Based on your description (new today, i7, Linux) it would appear to be this machine - host ID 13142021 which meets those three criteria.  Since this host has no credit as yet (to be expected) perhaps you are looking at a different host??

You should be able to find the host ID by looking in the startup messages (event log) for when you last started that machine.  13142021 is certainly a machine on your account that joined the project a few hours ago.

Cheers,
Gary.

A glitch.  You were correct.

A glitch.  You were correct.  Today everything looks more like I expected of a new computer.

Thank you everyone.
