How are canonical results chosen?

New cruncher here and just curious as to how the canonical result is selected when all result are submitted and validated. I searched for it but couldn't find any good answers. All of my completed work unit submissions have been validated, but none have been the canonical result, so I figure it can't be random.

Edit: of course I immediately find an answer thread soon as I post this, lol. https://einsteinathome.org/content/canonical-result

Hmmm. A random canonical result?

Does that mean we can just run a random number generator and be done with crunching?

I was being a little lighthearted and meaning moreso a situation like "hey these two results are the same" and then they flip a coin or similar to choose which one gets designated as canonical... not that the work of the underlying crunching itself is "random," lol.
