I am one of the Gridcoin Core Developers and also a long time cruncher. I would like to give an update on the return of Einstein to Gridcoin, because everyone in this community may not be aware of what has been happening.
First please take a look at a post I made a few weeks back. https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@jamescowens/progress-update-on-the-new-gridcoin-boinc-stats-collection-system-the-scraper-which-replaces-the-old-neural-network
I am the principle author of the complete rewrite of Gridcoin's statistics collection and calculation system. This new system solves our scalability problems, is more reliable, and supports authorized statistics access.
We just released the Camilla milestone for Gridcoin, which was 4.0.2.0. Denise, which is mostly the scraper with a few other minor items, has been in parallel testing on our #testnet network since January 7, and from that testing we have concluded the scraper is production ready. We only have to tidy up a few other things and Denise will be ready for release. This should happen during the next few weeks we believe.
This will be a "soft-rollout" of the new scraper and "neural network". They are designed to coexist. When enough nodes have upgraded to Denise to force the consensus to the new scraper stats, einstein will be included and people will start to be rewarded for Einstein again.
The rewrite was a large effort for us. over 10,000 lines of brand-new C++ code, and 250+ hours of development and testing time.
Hope this provides some clarification of what has been happening.

As soon as enough nodes have upgraded to the new version to push the consensus to the new scraper system, then Einstein will be in the superblocks. There may be a transition period for a little while where it flips back and forth.
