If they've got late inspiral, merger and ring down to Kerr state consistently on two detectors at better than five sigma then that's a good catch first up. From memory they were only expecting a couple of BH-BH mergers per year.

I think it will be something

I think it will be something like the Higgs Boson announcement, in that they have found something, but not quite sure what it is yet. They need ongoing PR to keep the funding up.

The PR on the BBC in Britain

The PR on the BBC in Britain was good but sadly there was no mention of Boinc or the great contribution made by so many people who have freely given valuable computing cycles and made the discovery more swift. This in my mind is a missed opertunity to recrute new people who would contribute.
