Hi there.

My preference page does not state what type(s) of GPU is/are required for:

Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (GPU) (O3MDF)

I casually looked through the forums, but didn't see the info (or a search function).

I have an older Radeon GPU with 2 GB , Double Float, and I can't find GPU work.

I have checked:

Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 on GPUs (FGRPB1G)

Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (GPU) (O3MDF)

My Boinc event log says:

Fri 29 Sep 2023 01:11:20 AM EDT | Einstein@Home | see scheduler log messages on https://einsteinathome.org/host/13135668/log
Fri 29 Sep 2023 01:11:20 AM EDT | Einstein@Home | Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo,GBT,long) is not available for your type of computer.

Can I get more info than "not available for your type of computer."???

Please help.

(Perhaps a note on the preference page would help too.)

THANKS!!!

Jay

What do you imagine the

What do you imagine the Technical News Forum is for?

Three of the top four pinned threads cover the questions you are asking.

By following the discussion there, you get the added benefit of the real world experiences of people who are using the applications and hardware types you mention.

Cheers,
Gary.

from your server log (the

from your server log (the link in your event log message):

Quote:
OpenCL platform (version): 'OpenCL 1.1 Mesa 23.1.7 - kisak-mesa PPA' doesn't match '!Mesa'

can't use Mesa drivers for BRP7. others have had problems with Mesa on BRP7 and they just don't work. switching to the real AMD drivers solved the problem for them.

quick rundown of available GPU tasks from Einstein:

FGRPB1G - now legacy, out of work. will not get more work besides resends (which are dwindling). eventually there will be none except rare instances to reprocess small batches.

BRP7 - this is the newer GPU search. needs FP64 capable hardware. needs "!Mesa", as-in "not Mesa"

O3MDF - this is the old Multi-Directional GW work. there is no work for this. no point having it selected.

BRP4/G - this is not available for ati device types. only CPUs and intel GPUs. no point in having this selected if you have an ati/amd card.

O3AS - this is the newer All-Sky GW work. I'm not sure if anyone was successful in getting this application to run on your generation GPU, but you don't have enough VRAM for it anyway (needs 4GB+)
