Code 22 can indicate a need for the 32 bit compatibility libs (ia32 plus dependencies)...
Yes, after some research I found it's 64bit extension. So what to do? In the moment I must restore the X-Server. After changing a monitor setting I have only command line left.
No idea if the four units now were successful or not. I don't know how to get a status message from the command line.

no backup of xorg.conf? Check in the /etc/X11/ directory, if theres an automatically created backup restore it with 'sudo cp xorg.conf.backup xorg.conf'. For example nvidia driver install will create a backup, many other programs will as well.
First WU completed without apparent problem (downloaded for 4.20 application, completely processed with the 4.24 application). No validation available yet. Moving on to the 4.27 application now.
Thanks for your help, the restoring did finally the trick. There were no .backup files, they had numbers. Took a while for me to come to that idea. Now I have the X back, but only in 640x480. For the moment ok.
Unfortunately also the recent WUs crashed with exit code 22.

( So, as KSMarksPsych stated, it could be a 64 to 32 bit problem. What kind
if library I need in that case? )
After re-reading the post of KSMarksPsych, I understood the hint for ia32.
Installed one package, hope any dependencies are solved by the program.

Nope. Additionally it consists of components < 12 month of age and lives in a cool room. If this turns out to be a hardware fault, I'd be severely suprised.
Daran, what kind of RAM do you have in that rig and what voltage are you feeding the RAM? Lots of DDR2 requires higher voltage than the default 1.8v, some need as much as 2.2v.

This library is in the standard repository?

cat /usr/local/BOINC/slots/0/stderr.txt
Adapt the path and the slot no to your installation.
Is boinc running?
pidof boinc
Which tasks are running?
ps -f --ppid `pidof boinc`
You can run a 64Bit Boinc Client without problems, I do too.
Figure out the einstein dependencies:
ldd /usr/local/BOINC/projects/einstein.phys.uwm.edu/einstein_S5R3_4.27_i686-pc-linux-gnu

Hi folks,
can't say I'm happy with 4.24. While there are no more sig11, I got three WUs bailing with a sig 8 out of 8 WUs processed so far.

Hi Daran!
4.20 also had at least one signal 8 incident on that PC before, so this is not specific to 4.24.
