Being a newbie, in a fit of over-enthusiasm, I thought that up my credits (why?) by bringing an old computer into service. It was clear that it would take about 2 weeks to do a job :( Unfortunately it was allocated 2 jobs. I told BOINC manager to abort both of them, and I also detached the computer from Einstein @ Home. But the two jobs are still allocated to this computer, preventing other people from getting credits on them, and, embarrassingly, the computer is still on my list of computers. I'd like to get rid of it - but how.

Getting rid of a computer and giving back its work
)
1st: You are not preventing anybody from getting credit, you are just delaying
it a litte. BOINC takes care and is reissuing work, if necessary.
2nd: You can, but you must not, delete your computer from the "Your Account" page.
But all WUs must be deleted by BOINC first. So you will have to wait.
So no harm done. Did you detach this computer from Einstein? Hope
you attach another computer soon :)

Sorry - sloppy language. I did, of course, mean 'delay' other people getting their credits, besides delaying the final verification of the results so they can be put to bed.
As for 2), I'm afraid that I've actually uninstalled BOINC and erased all associated files, on that secondary machine. So I guess I'm stuck with it's appearing on 'my computers' :-(
I do have a main machine which is churning its way through the work at a very satisfactory rate.
Many thanks for your feedback.

There are projects that can use elderly machines - SZTAKI needs about 200MHz or so to complete on time (the 90MHz is about 40% overtime running 24/7). PrimeGrid (currently have a waiting list for accounts) runs just fine on a 90MHz Pentium.
