George,Roger has a couple

George,

Roger has a couple of Thread Rippers too. So you might look at his systems. If you limit you expansion ambitions to 3 gpus you can get some good choices with am4 socket motherboards. Unless you want to try out a msi meg godlike with 4 full length slots.

If you are just running GPU projects any 8c/16t CPU should allow you to run up to 7 gpus. Yes you could do that with an Epyc 7 slot MB and a 1st gen 8c/16t Epyc CPU.

I think/hope you can see the pictures of my pc room here https://www.flickr.com/photos/12424716@N04

The mini-split heads should be there as well, the pictures that are in a basement are in my old house in Virginia from 6 years ago when i moved down here in North Carolina. The very last picture IS of me when I was ALOT younger.

Yes, they came out alright, thanks for sharing.  I had a basement similar to what your pictures showed, and your current house's 'computer room' I thought was in the garage, is it?  If it is, it appears to be very nice.  Even so, you need just a little more clean up and it'll be just fine.   ;*)   I like the twin A/C units.

Thanks for telling me, I'll check into it tomorrow.  I am trying to do more, like 4 or even 7 more GPUs because I don't have much room for additional PCs.  Three would be my limit.  Besides, with me going to Disney World it is going to be next year before I can do anything now.

I'm trying to stay away from the EPYC CPUs because you can't OC them.  So I'll stay with the Threadripper Pro for now, and the ASUS Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI II (2nd gen) motherboard w/7 x 16X PCIe slots seem to right up my alley the more I look at it.  The MSI Godlike does have 4 PCIe slots, but if I run any more than one GPU then I can't be at 16X, it sorely drops off.

OKAY, enough for now.  I can't hold my eyes open anymore.

Yes the current room is in the garage as living at the beach means no basements, the room is 11' long by 7' wide with the 'desk' at one end , I had 3 walls added with a sliding door near the one end of the long wall. I got rid of the solid steel shelving and went to slotted steel shelving when I moved so the heat doesn't get trapped at near the floor. Between the garage door and the computer room is my golf cart and it fits very nicely that way. I had 4 20amp outlets put in the pc room and there's a 15amp outlet for the golf cart right at the outside end of the wall so I can plug in the golf cart. NC does electric golf carts only on public roads so everyone has one that needs charging.

George, The two gpu MB I

George,

The two gpu MB I am running now is 8x/8x. The preceding b450-f was 8x/4x according to the Nvidia gui.

According to Ian&SteveC for e@h even 1x is fast enough.  Otherwise I would never have been playing with 1x mining risers.

I've really never been

I've really never been bothered by my X4 board connection for the X470 boards for the third gpu.   No different from the X8 that the other two gpus run.

Yes, I know...  Both All three of you are correct in that even 1x is fast enough, but I have a tendency to 'overkill' in everything that I do.  My mind keeps jumping from here to there and over there and back again.  Right now I've even been contemplating using the ASUS motherboard in a mining rig with all 7 slots filled with what I have plus one more GPU - and all air cooled, and not using a case (goodby Fractal).

But alas...  that's now a year away from becoming a reality.  I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and living with my 18th place in RAC on E@H.  Maybe up to 16th place, but that will be the highest I can go on a single GPU (that I currently own).  Who knows, in a year or so I could possibly buy a 4090Ti.....  yeah... right!...  ;*)

I could do it now, but I don't want to over extend my finances before I complete my Disney World trip.  It will likely be the last big trip I ever take and I want it to be a good one.

Ah, if your thinking it is a LAST big trip then I get it.

I have a couple of mining frames :)

You just need a really big PSU.

Could you give me the links to your mining frames?  I'd like to see what they're like.

Hmmmm.... One is the same one(s) that Ian&SteveC runs. Don't know if I can find a link but I can ship it to you after I disassemble it.

:)
