It seems that we're experiencing database server problems again. I'm having problems with upload errors on Gamma-Ray work units, with the familiar "Server may be down" messages. BRPs and GWs work fine, it's just the Gamma Ray ones that are having problems.

Well, here, the Gamma Rays are still a problem.
It looks like everything is

It looks like everything is now fixed.
The server that the results
)
The server that the results are uploaded to is the same for both the Gamma-Ray and Radio-Pulsar tasks and is located in Hannover. (The Gravitational Wave results get uploaded to the main project server @UWM, in Milwaukee).
The httpd on that server is restarted at 6:20 CET (should be 5:20 UTC) for log rotation. That means that it is not accepting new connections while still serving the existing ones, i.e. until the slowest upload has finished and the restart could be made cleanly. This may well take several minutes.
This should be visible also on the server status page, when information about the daemons running on einstein-wug and progress information for the FGRP (and partly BRP) search is missing.

Strange. To me that sounds more like something is preventing BOINC from saving a downloaded exe file to disk....virus scanners perhaps ???? Other problem with the file system???

Or just general permissions problem. When on Win Vista or 7, what is the Data directory set to?
sorry I didn't get a chance

sorry I didn't get a chance to tell what happened next....
All I did was a reboot after doing an update and the Gamma's started running.
What I had was several on the "tasks" list that still said they were downloading and that last part stuck in the "transfer"
So I just left it there and was doing something else and when I did the reboot I looked at the Boinc transfer and in about one second it finished and all the Gamma's were ready to start.
So if that happens again I will just do a reboot (that was on a Win7)
I am on one of the XP Pro's right now and it had no problem.
