    Pink Floyd keyboard player and founder member Richard Wright has died at the age of 65 after battling cancer, his spokesman has said.

    The group released their first record in 1967 with Wright appearing alongside lead guitarist Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason.

    Dave Gilmour joined the band at the start of 1968 while Barrett left the group shortly afterwards.

    Wright penned songs on albums including Dark Side Of The Moon.

      ...that bell tolls a lot louder sometimes...
      ...none of their songs ever got old, no matter how many times they were played, and back in the days of just a few album-rock radio stations they never got played enough, everyone always cranked Floyd all the way up whenever it came on....

      I only got to see them live

        I only got to see them live fore times,
        but wore out dark side of the moon LP,
        There music will live forever,
        or at least a lot longer than me,
        and I have no intention of going somewhere else any time soon.

          I never saw Pink Floyd live...but they were usually front and center on the stereo during late night parties...Hearing their music years later brings back the feeling of those ancient nights.

            I grew up with Floyd and still enjoy listening to them... everything from Atom Heart Mother to the Division Bell.. They pushed the envelope... My all time favorite is Meddle.. I never saw them live but every once in a while a production company out of Toronto called Classic Albums Live will produce and put on the road a group of studio musicians who play Classic Rock Albums note for note. I had the opportunity to see Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall when they passed through Charlottetown in a very intimate setting..

            This winter they will be performing Led Zeppelin IV, the Eagles Hotel California, and Jimmi Hendrix Are You Experienced.. I have my tickets :-)

              Since the days before Dark Side Of The Moon I have always been a major Pink Floyd fan. And indeed, had the great pleasure to chat with each of them many times and to introduce them at several major concerts.

              Pink Floyd will never appear together in concert again. For me, I think that may be best. It would be nearly impossible for them to live up to the enormous expectations of the fans.

              I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to see Pink Floyd live about 7 times in various cities.

              I'm lucky enough to tune this in on the stereo out of Oshawa, Ontario (94.9 FM) but he's also streamed live on the net:
