Hello everybody,
After a while I'm back at BOINC and here at Einstein I have a big problem with the WUs in the O3ASE1 project.
I am using an older GPU, AMD HD7700 with 1 GB VRAM. Since I am only assigned WU from this project, I can only crunch these. The problem arises with 70% of the WUs that they start apparently normally, but suddenly stop at some point, and after that only 1-3% of the originally 70-90% done are left and the time to finish takes astronomical Dimensions. At the moment I have 2 WUs here, one time 17 days until completion, one time 219 !!! Days to completion.
What's going on there? Is the GPU too old? Too weak? Not enough memory? Unfortunately, there is not enough information in the projects about the exact performance data the GPU should have.

The O3ASE1 science run is a test run so I guess your prefs allow test apps. GW tasks in general require a lot of memory - at least 3GB and probably more to be safe. Besides, your GPU is way too old for GW stuff.
You will be able to run Gamma-ray pulsar tasks (GRP) so disable test apps and enable just that search for your GPU.
Cheers,
Gary.

These units also use ALOT of cpu processing at the beginning and end of every task, over 100%, so if you are not leaving at least one cpu core free just to keep the gpu fed these number could be a result. Also only run one task at a time on that gpu as mine are taking about 1.34gb of onboard gpu memory for each task.
In short do what Gary said and you will be much happier and so will your gpu.
