With these GPU tasks both my 770 and 780 downclock and will not go back after a system restart. Even setting gpu to run 2x gpu usage is 0 -30 %. When I aborted them and deselected them . Got new pers. tasks and all went back to norm. I didn't even have to restart to get my gpus to return to settings.1242mhz for 770 and 1123mghz for 780. Is it me or the new FGRP3 tasks ? Ive deselected them for now.

FGRP3 GPU Tasks All kinds of wierd just me ?

Have you tried exploring lower clock settings? Possibly the FGRP3 code hits a slow path in your cards not a factor for the other things you do.

Many weeks ago I used the MSI afterburner I originally installed for fan control to lower the clock rate on one of my two GTX660 cards a notch below card default. The other (same brand, same model) keeps up. There is always a bit of luck of the draw for the specific die that happened to be delivered on your card.

Hi archae86 . I noticed

Hi archae86 . I noticed while the new tasks ran it seemed as if the task set the clocks. I don't remember what I think the 780 was 1019 but even the voltage was changed.I restarted with tasks suspended but as soon as I let the tasks run the numbers went back to the new odd ones. It seems odd that with 2x the usage wavered so much but peaked at 30% I use evga precX for auto boost so it must hve made the call to dial down. The cars are both Gigabyte - gtx770-oc & gtx 780-ghz.

Well b4 I turn this into

Well b4 I turn this into anything I will run a batch at 4x and then see if when my sys goes to run more BRP5s again Ill check the clocks again.. Will post when I have anything new.

OK At the moment the 770 is

OK At the moment the 770 is running 2 FRGP3 & 1 BRP5. Gpu usage varies 60 - 75 % seems a bit low. I see the GPU utilization factor must be the same for both wu types.

The gpus both downclock b4 because each was only running ONE task and that peaked at 30% usage so the card downclocked because all that power wasn't needed. With multi wus on the card the work load is high enough to keep the clock up in other words trigger the BOOST.

I am waiting to see how the 780 does but I assume will work same way. Its a shame the two different GPU tasks are not closer in GPU work load . Both the 770 and 780 could do 4x of FGRP3 but the 770 seems to top out at 3x on BRP5 unless I can change a setting ?

I may try 4x again soon as the mix should make it easier on the 770 and I have the cpu cores to handle the load.

Do you use the Precision X to

Do you use the Precision X to raise the fan speed to keep the temp low enough to run with the voltage up and the clock SSC ?

I have mine up from the auto setting to around 55 to keep the temps @ 60C or less so they run as fast as possible.

Hi again Magic. Yes. I

Hi again Magic. Yes. I adjusted the fan curve for both cards. It took a bit of playing but it now works well here and GPUGRID.

GREAT

Yeah when I first started testing different superclocked GeForce cards with Precision X I just tested the fan settings and watched the Boinc Managers to see if they ran smooth.

I like the Ti versions so that is what I always get except the GeForce 610M in the laptop and it can't use PrecisionX

Over at GPUGRID I here a lot

Over at GPUGRID I here a lot about MSI Afterburner .I prefer X as well.
