EAH uses the same data files for many work units, so after the initial download, your level of traffic per work unit should drop significantly.

That said, not all projects are doing the same sort of work; and consequently they won't have the same sort of bandwidth demands. FAH tasks represent small, computationally intensive, calculations. Network traffic is minimal because the amount of data needed to set up the calculation and the actual results of it are very small. Other projects like EAH are doing analysis of very large volumes of data collected from instruments. In EAH's case the results from a single WU aren't meaningful in and of themselves, but need to be cross correllated with large amounts of other results. As a result the amount of data being sent out and returned is significantly greater.

If your available bandwidth is limited, by all means only run projects that have minimal bandwidth requirements; but don't try and claim that only one approach is legitimate.
