I keep getting messages like this
3/21/2007 8:40:56 PM|Einstein@Home|Task h1_0611.0_S5R1__4908_S5RIa_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
3/21/2007 8:40:56 PM|Einstein@Home|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.
It isn't just the Einstein@Home project that I keep getting this message but for the other projects I'm attached to as well. I've reset the project a few times but to no avail. What am I doing wrong?

It is a benign condition which many people experience from time to time. Resetting the project does not help and is counter-productive since your cache of work gets discarded. If you use the search function on the message boards, you will find many people who have reported this "problem" previously. It is also covered in the Wiki.
If you would like to stop being annoyed by the message, upgrade to BOINC 5.8.15 as I believe the message has been removed in this version.

Gary Roberts,
Thanks for the info! Wish I had done this sooner rather than reseting my projects!
I just joined awhile back so am surprised to know that there is a newer version of BOINC. Will be sure to grab that now! Am runnig BOINC 5.8.11 at the moment.
I didn't notice a search button on this section page when I was posting. After reading your message, I looked for it and found it on the main page. I apologize for not noticing it before as I would have searched for an answer before asking my question. Being a member of many other forums, I know that is the best place to start!

You're welcome!
Normally the recommended versions tend to last for a while. This time the transition from 5.8.11 to 5.8.15 was fairly swift. I've seen a few comments which suggest there may be a further change to the recommended version in the not too distant future so it pays to browse the BOINC download page occasionally if you want to stay current.
That's quite OK - at least you know where it is now. If you do a thread title search using 'zero status' you come up with about 13 threads that actually use that part of the message in the thread title. Many of them go back years as the "problem" has been around for a long time :).
Cheers,
Gary.

Hi,
Version 5.8.15 also has the same message. Good to know there's nothing to worry about. Glad I didn't reset anything before checking here (and didn't even need to use a keyword search - good title for the thread!) Thanks!!
What changed between those

What changed between those two 5.8.x release versions was a bug fix. For whatever reason that message got printed every time an app was suspended or switched.

I've seen notations in the Boinc Manager messages indicating that a new version of Boinc is available for download. I don't know what triggers that message or how soon after release of a version.

That's a message from the scheduler if you run an outdated version of BOINC no longer supported by the project, or if the scheduler has been adapted to block certain (3rd party) versions of BOINC.
Actually I think it can be

Actually I think it can be sent even if the project still supports the older version. I was getting it on hosts running 5.4.11.
I think this was the compromise between a full blown BOINC auto-updater and not sending any kind of indication at all. ;-)
