The Binary Pulsar WUs take a long time on my machine and I don't think the credit granted is correct compared to the Global Correlations WUs. I've been aborting the BP WUs as soon as they download. Is there any way to keep them from downloading?

Just go to your account page on the website and click on the link to your E@H preferences. When the next page comes up, take a look at what it says for selected applications. If it says (all applications) click on the edit link and the next page will allow you to deselect the BRP application. After updating your preferences on the website, click the update button in BOINC Manager so your computer will immediately access the preference change.
You should spend some time going through all your preferences to make sure you understand what is available and to check that they really reflect what you require. If you are changing global preferences rather than project specific ones, you may need to be aware of how this might affect any other projects you are attached to.

Don't be too hard on your memory - I don't think that capability existed six years ago.
New features have a habit of creeping into BOINC, often without public announcement. But somebody usually notices eventually, and starts chatting about it on one or other of the message boards.
