einstein@home no work with amd64

How did you install BOINC? As a single user, multi user or service install?
Was it on top of another version of BOINC?

Microsoft KB article - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=156484 talks about this error.

It just says that a service starting a console procress does not know when the process ends premuturely. It states one way to find premature ended console processes is to issue a GetExitCode command. This command will then return error 128 (no child process found) if the process is not running.

So it looks like BOINC has detected that the process is not running, but does not know why.

When you look in Task Manager, do you see Boinc.exe, Boincmgr.exe (optional if a service install) and albert_437_win.exe running?

Ageless thanks for your

Ageless thanks for your time

Yes, i have reinstal another version of boinc (the old version 5.2.13) and the error still again, the WU end before start.

And into the task manager boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe is running but einstein@home not.

I have testing with another boinc project (rosetta) but again error 128....

With windows reinstall? the problem is out?

(Sorry, my english is not fine)

What kind of system do you

What kind of system do you have? CPU, OS, RAM amount?
Have you tried a power down of the system, wait 10 seconds, then restart to see if that fixes things?
Have you tried to fully uninstall, delete the whole BOINC folder, then reinstall to another folder?

Hi Gizax, It would appear

Hi Gizax,

It would appear that this error is caused by a wrong DirectX version, or a not fully updated version. The latest for Windows versions is DirectX 9.0c, with updates available for it through Windows Update.
