Einstein@Home Discovers Fifth Radio Pulsar in Parkes Data

Einstein@Home has discovered a fifth new radio pulsar J1644-4409 in data from the Parkes Multi Beam Pulsar Survey (PMPS)! Congratulations to Jesse Charles Wagner II (USA) and Ras (USA).

Further details about the newly-discovered pulsar may be found on this web page, and will be published in due course.

Too bad the chances of discovering gravitational waves are almost nil against Pulsar search, CPU-only rigs are such inefficient crunchers.

Ok, GPUs can crunch faster,

Ok, GPUs can crunch faster, but they are still in the minority, so that now (very roughly) half the results are returned by CPUs and half by GPUs. I'm sure many of the discoverers of the now 7 pulsars in total were using CPUs only.
