Einstein screensaver has never worked since install

    Hi there:

    I installed BOINC and Einstein@home at work a few months ago and the screensaver has never worked since I installed everything. it works fine at home, but has not done so here.

    I'm running Windows XP 2000 Professional on a P4 3.4G processor at work. I've got BOINC 5.4.9, and when I click on "tasks," the option to show graphics remains greyed out.

    any idea what setting might be wrong here? Do I simply need to uninstall and reinstall?

      It sounds like you installed it as a service in the place the graphics does not show. This is normal, and there is a fix here.

        Also, if you have a local software firewall on your work machine, make sure that it allows the BOINC.scr RPC through on port 31416. This is all local network.

          thanks all...

          Oddly, when I tried installing the fix, there wasn't a BOINC entry in the services menu. Any idea why that would be? (so obviously, I wasn't able to apply the fix)
