Einstein locks my PC into an uncontrollable loop where either the screen doesn’t blank or when I wake the PC up the graphics continually pop back up onto the screen whenever there is no mouse movement of less than 1 second.
I have experienced this problem under both XP and 2000
Seti@Home is not affected by this in the same Boinc client
I am running V4.45 of the manager
If this doesn’t clear up by the time my work units are finished I’m afraid I’ll need to disconnect from this project

Hi,
You didn't note which OS you are running, but if you are on windows, you might try one of the new einstein beta apps. Bernd Machenschalk says "Between the BOINC code the 4.79 App was built from and the one used in (beta)0.03 and 0.18 one major change was the thread priority setting of the "worker" thread, which is even lower in the new code." The lower thread priority should allow enough headroom for other services to run without lockup. I've tried the .18 beta on my Athlon XP under WinXP, crunched 10 WUs, 9 of which have already validated (the other one may take several weeks to validate, as 2 of the others assigned to that WU seem to be sitting on their hands while all their recent WUs redline), but I have every reason to believe the last WU will also validate, eventually. I had no problems with the beta, however, I did experience a 10% increase in crunch time due to the lower thread priority, which seems to be what other Athlon users see with it.
If you're interested, you may get one of the beta here: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/app_test.php
Hope this helps!
