The usual down load is about 20Mb at each connection which runs for 6 to 7 hrs, before it requires to be connected. If you release down load three times this volume, then the program can run for 24 hrs, before needing connection to the net. This way if one is away from the computer for a weekend, the back ground computing will continue and can be connected after the weekend return to work.
Suppose one is on holiday for a few weeks then the computing will have to halt as it can not be connected every 7 hrs.
I think you should work out a method to give more work at a time, for weekends and holiday periods to certain specific people who ask for it.Give it a thought. As I can improve my results by over 25% if this is used.

Good suggestion but there is a hitch, if one goes on holiday for two weeks then the period of reporting has passed off, so it will not be valid, or this system as suggested above can be only used for weekend works and outings.

I may have misunderstood your post. The way I take it is that you wish to have work units to process for a variable period of time and be able to adjust the time when your computer connects to Einstein. If this is the case then the options are already available to you. Open up your Boinc manager. Hit the 'Your account' button. Scroll down to 'Preferences' and select 'View or edit general preferences'. Under 'Network usage' adjust the 'Connect to network about every' to whatever setting suits your needs. By default I believe it's '0.1'. Increase it to '0.5' for 12 hrs or '10' for 10 days for example. This setting sets up how much work you cache in between connect times. You may also have to adjust the 'Disk and memory usage' settings also to allow your computer to hold a large cache if it is capable.
If the computer is a laptop, true. And nullifies my first paragraph.
