There appears to be a new version of "einstein_S5R1_4.24_windows_intelx86.exe"..(since the number in the middle is higher now)... anyway, at work we have an internet policy that forbids downloading of .exe files. So every time I try to get more work, the software tries to download the new .exe file, and it fails. Is there a way to get around downloading of the .exe file? I would bet that several companies out there have the same policy, is it possible to change the software so that the file is not .exe, and is renamed after downloading? If there is no way around this, I fear I must stop participating....thanks in advance.

As long as the application is available from beta test page, you can download it from there.

The current 5.24 was the beta version for Windows and is now mainstream.

In your Boinc folder you will find a file 'client_state.xml'.
Search for 'einstein_S5R1_4.24'...

einstein_S5R1_4.24_windows_intelx86.pdb

some lines below there is a section 'file signature' and after that section (behind '') you find the download urls...

http://einstein.aei.mpg.de/download/einstein_S5R1_4.24_windows_intelx86.pdb http://einstein.astro.gla.ac.uk/download/einstein_S5R1_4.24_windows_intelx86.pdb http://morel.mit.edu/download/einstein_S5R1_4.24_windows_intelx86.pdb ...

Fill in any of the addresses

Fill in any of the addresses in your other post in a browser window.

Like http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/download/einstein_S5R1_4.24_windows_intelx86.pdb

It'll try to download it then. Save it to your BOINC folder at \\BOINC\\projects\\einstein.phys.uwm.edu\\

(Default folder is C:\\Program Files\\BOINC)

Exit BOINC, restart it.

Thanks Jorden, i try it and i get this:
WatchGuard firewall: Response denied from http://129.89.61.70:80/download/einstein_s5r1_4.24_windows_intelx86.pdb: Unsafe content type "chemical/x-pdb"

The fu***** firewall of the company is the one creating all the problems, my pc is at work and we have a server and i dont have access to it so ill try to dl somewhere else. Thanks man, now i know where the problem is coming from and how to fix it :)

Thanks again.

Yes, ask your IT personnel

Message 44162 in response to message 44161

Yes, ask your IT personnel for help on this, or use the company proxy server. :-)

Although... if the company proxy server uses NTLM authentication, you need to wait for the next version of BOINC to get through.
