I just upgraded to 6.12.33 (x64) on my laptop running:
Win7 Pro x64 on Intel i5 M540 8GB RAM.
I could only get the Manager to run if I ran as administrator. Picking it from the menu exited with no message.
Is this on purpose or am I doing something wrong. I did install it without uninstalling the previous version (I think it was 6.12.26). I assumed it would tell me if it wanted me to uninstall.

Does 6.12.33 Manager need Admin Privileges on Win 7?
)
v6.12.33 has a feature that only allows one copy of the Manager to run at a time, unless you deliberately request that a second copy is opened (this is possible).
If you set the preference to 'Run Manager at login', that instance of the Manager - on Windows 7, sepecifically - tends to run minimised and hidden in the 'Notification Area' (successor to the old system tray). Check 'Show hidden icons' - to the left of the group which includes the clock, bottom right of screen - to make sure there isn't one already active in there.
But even so, choosing to run the Manager from a menu should bring the already-running copy to the foreground. If you are saying that the "person" (Windows user) currently logged into the machine is different from the person who was logged in when BOINC was installed, you may have additional work to do - come back and ask.

thank Richard,
I will be a while before I can reboot but I'll check the notification area.
There was nothing in the task bar and choosing the Boinc Manager did not open a window or pop up a dialog box. Only one user is logged in and the boinc tasks started normally (task manager used to verify).
It's not a big deal, I'm just trying to understand what's going on.
