I have this set up to dial up my ISP between 2200 and 0600 to access the network. Listening to the speaker, it dials the number and then connects.
It appears the Einstein is trying to contact the host, then failing. The phone hangs up and it tries again.
Repeat...
What appears to be the problem is that after connection, there is some negotiating going on with the ISP (Earthlink) which is taking some time. Einstein is not waiting long enough for this hand shaking, and the call fails.
Is there a way to change this so that there is a pause upon connection (15 seconds?) before attempting to communicate?
Thanks...

Dial up not working correctly
)
Bob,
I saw your post yesterday, but didn't respond. (I haven't used dial-up in years and I have forgotten what little I ever knew about it.) But, since nobody else has jumped in yet, I'll give it a go.
First of all, are you speculating on what is happening or have you confirmed it by correlating with messages under the BOINC Manager "Messages" tab? (You might want to paste an example of those messages here with your next post.)
Also, since it is the BOINC progam (not Einstein) that handles internet connections, you should also check the BOINC message boards for similar inquiries and/or post this report there as well.
But, if things are happening as you say, you might want to try setting your "Disconnect when done?" general preference to "No" (assuming your modem will eventually hang-up after x minutes of idle time). That might give BOINC enough time "to try again" after the connection has been made before your modem times out. Not a great solution, since BOINC's seems to randomly assign "retry" times.

Bob, I checked the BOINC

Bob,
I checked the BOINC boards and found this thread: Message boards : BOINC Manager : Dail-Up Issue: Not Enough Time to Resolve Host.
