For some reason BOINC just deleted all of the files for all of the projects my computer was working on. Then it went online and downloaded new work units for each project. Why did it do that?

It sounds like your client_state.xml file got corrupted. In that case BOINC has to rebuild everything.

There should be something

There should be something about it in the messages the client wrote...

I didn't get any error

I didn't get any error messages on the screen when it deleted all the work units. When I login to my Einstein@Home account, the work unit says client error. The stderr out for that result says:

4.25
Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)

Resuming computation at 3963/236410/239595
Resuming computation at 4173/249150/250515
Resuming computation at 4245/253518/253973

My other projects say almost the same thing. What does this mean and how can I prevent it from happening again?

I've seen these errors in

I've seen these errors in some logs, though haven't been able to get them on my own machines yet. As this appears to happen with all projects, I'm inclined to think that it's rather a problem with the core client. Try another version (e.g. 4.19) and see if the problem persists.
