Deleted because of spam?

I recently noticed that my account name had been renamed "Deleted because of spam" and someone had deleted my profile information.
I received no e-mail from Einstein@Home about the matter, so I assume someone has hacked into my account or is playing a joke in very poor taste.
There also appear to be a large number of accounts that begin with 'D' and almost everywhere I look under D the account names Deleted because of spam. I also now have three team members named Deleted because of spam.
I can find nothing about this in the FAQ or forums. Does anyone know what is going on here?

Our apologies regarding this. We have recently ( just last week ) suffered a massive spam/denial-of-service attack which required some defensive scripting relating to registrations vs. activity. We have inadvertently deleted more than intended, as alas we had some 40K+ faked accounts to clean up.
Could I prevail upon you to send a private message to Bernd ( our IT guru, his ID = 2 ) with yours and/or any other friends/members details so that we can correct this for you?
