Days to Complete Tasks!!! Gravitational Wave (GW) Units GPU Processing Failing esp. Older RADEON Cards

For simplicity, in case this catches eye better in forum listing, apparently some older GPU cards with less than 4Gb RAM are failing with errors on GW Gravitational Wave work (may be restricted to the GPU units).

I have an older RADEON HD 7700 Series with 2Gb, may be restricted to AMD Radeon but Ilve seen NVIDIA mentioned too, I'm not an expert.

Loads of my work units failed, went from 39 minutes to 22 days and rising to completion after a short while. After scouring forum I aborted the lot and made some changes.

Immediate fix is to uncheck the GPU version of GW downloads so you are not served them. I still have the CPU versions checked and am monitoring them, if I get served them for computation. Gamma-ray Pulsar work units all fine.

To uncheck specific tasks go to ACCOUNT (up at the top under einstein home logo) > Preferences (just underneath and to right of ACCOUNT) > Project (below that) > scroll down to Applications and uncheck Gravitational Wave search O2 Multi-Directional GPU and whatever else is failing.

Possible that older cards may work with GW units in future but the chat suggests 'unlikely'.

Increasing available CPU to support GPU (as suggested in one of the posts) did not work for me, but with so many options in preferences, etc. I may well have done something wrong.

There's a lot more talk of clean installs, OpenCL, yada yada yada.

If you're just doing this for non-technical fun then avoid Gravitational Wave GPU work units for starters.
