EBH,

The quota is a "circuit breaker". Your computer has been returning work units that are failing due to the "graphics bug" and your quota has been reduced by one every time your have returned a bad result. (It also goes back up when you return a good result.) This limits the potential for downloading a WU, failing it, downloading another one, etc. to the daily quota. Now to the reason why you are having the problem. Einstein 4.79 has a bug which causes WU's to fail when the screensaver (or "Show graphics" option) is used on certain computer systems. You obviously have one of those systems. I suggest you read this message (and thread) for a little more info on what you can do about it.

Ok, but I am running 5.2.13? Does this version have the bug too? Thx.

The bug is in the Einstein program and not with BOINC. Einstein 4.79 is an old program (built when v4.19 was the latest BOINC version), so ironically, the problem could be because you are using BOINC 5.2.13. The Beta application not only fixes the "graphics bug" but it is also built to the new BOINC standards. I use the Beta and it has worked flawlessly for me. The only downside to the Beta app is that you will have to check back here every now and then to see if the new science application has been released yet (and then switch to it) - not really much trouble at all.

Stick speaks the truth. If you don't want to use the Beta App, you can just disable the BOINC screensaver (use any of the ones supplied by your OS) or set it to blank the screen. Also, don't use the "show graphics" button.

I personally choose to have my screen go black. This allows BOINC to crunch most efficiently. When I was using a Windows screensaver (picture slide show), I was doing WU in 12 hours or so. Now that I'm not using a screensaver, they crunch in around 9 hours. A big difference to me.

The choice is yours.

Keep crunchin'
