Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA for a while...moving, followed by sinus infection , followed by family drama has kept me a little distracted lately.
But I'm all settled in, my head doesn't hurt as much as it was, and I managed to survive my family for another summer...there aught to be a law about family members not all having their birth days in the same month...

I have run the following tests to see what the impact of freeing up cpu's had on gpu performance.
A side effect of freeing cpus is that the cpu processes speed up, runtimes are very consistent and the ratio of runtime to cpu time goes down significantly. At the 4/4 ratio a gamma-ray pulsar search went from approx. 9.5 to 6 hours and S6LV went from approx 5.5 to 3.5 hours.

And i think in your list it is only meant 8800GT is not openCL usable in THIS project (here is OpenCL1.1 needed or?), cos im running 8xxx and 9xxx (and a HD4850) cards in OpenCL1.0 projects (like POEM) and they do fine.

Well I can only go by what my particular laptop does since this is the only one I have (my other 5 are desktops I built over the last few years)
But I did find one that was a good deal AND can do this since that is the main reason I even have these.
It is an Asus A53S with Intel Quad Core i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz w/8GB Ram
and when it said it had the GeForce that would run the Cuda's that was what I wanted and I liked the price since most of the time a good one costs way too much (mine was $771 total)
It has been running non-stop for about 50 days and I even had it connected to my bigscreen to watch a movie and some tv at the same time I was running the Einstein Cuda's and the LHC and a 2-core T4T task.
No heat problems so far.....but my battery never works more than 30 mins.
Since nobody else uses it all I do when I leave it just sitting and running tasks I either lay it on a piece of granite tile I put on a table next to me and at night .....well my high tech place to put it is on top of my porcelain sink in the bathroom along with the AC box so that is how I run it cool as I can here
Must admit it is my own bathroom and I keep it cooler than the rest of the house.
I have repaired laptops for my son that he tends to destroy and while I would test by running Einsteins all night I would lay those on the granite floor in the bathroom and those laptops always ran too hot just running Gravitationals.
So I guess it depends on what laptop you are using.
yeah... i havent got a spare copy of 7 lying around the place anymore as my technet subscription expired before i got around to rebuilding this after it blew out the mb & processor :(
