In a few days, NVIDIA will expand the 600 series to include new low- and midrange cards, filling the gap between the 100$ and 250$ish cards. If one is not hunting for top performance but for max efficiency (performance per $, performance per Watt), those could be interesting.

The metric I'd really like to know is credits per dollar per year including power costs. While E@H is not the primary job on these machines it a) will get run often and b) is probably the most applicable benchmark for the work we'll be doing.

New parts, or just rebadged 4xx/5xx GPUs?
New, atleast the GTX670 also GT445. But I'd choose the 670.
If I were to build a new system, a mobo with atleast 2 PCIe (2.0/3.0)x16/x8
slots and 6 core AMD or SB/IB i7-2600(K)/3770 and a GTX670 with room
for another one.
A suitable case and a 1KW PSU ;-)
Hmm,they didn`t improve the DP performance at all.I still don`t know how Nvidia and Ati in games are very close to eachother, when the 7900 series has 3.7teraflops of SP and 900Gflopfs DP computing power.

We could sort of figure that out with the 500 series as nVidia published relative compute performance see http://einsteinathome.org/node/195983
Lots of data in this thread if I could only digest it all.

This is some handy app.It shows SP and DP performance of Nvidia gpu.

With BRP now being v1.28, and times having halved, I suppose you should start a new thread. ;-)
My new BRPs run in ~2,300 seconds on my HD6850.
