this WU http://einsteinathome.org/workunit/151896228 on my system shows run time of 100k seconds and CPU time of 145k seconds (approximate for both). I have 4 cores, but each is running a different Boinc project. How (or where) did this 45% difference come from?

CPU time greater than run time?

I think that happens because many cpu only jobs run on process priority low but the BRP4 Application is for cpu or gpu and the BRP jobs run on the priority higher then low so it could be that it youses ressources from another core too.
If that wouldn´t be the runtime would be much higher.
If you go in your Taskmanager and rightclick on a job you can find there the process priority and you can watch the priority state.
But be careful to change something there it can makes your system unstable.

The stats are managed by the BOINC client, so it's rather a BOINC than an E@H problem. What is unusual tho is the really long runtime of this job. That PC must have been busy doing something else so that the low prio CPU BRP4 job had less than a full core most of the time. This should indeed show in a far longer task run time as compared to the CPU time. Extrapolating from what is in the log, the wall clock time for this job could have been ca 165k sec.

If you mean % of time CPU is

If you mean % of time CPU is allowed to spend on Boinc, then it did indeed does have a low priority. I've got it set to 65% (I think) for each project I run. My 'puter is not the latest-greatest-state of the art. Also, I use it for other things so the % seems to be a good enough tradeoff in not bogging down my real life work/play. Every little bit helps, right :)
