CPU only used when I'm using computer

The Einstein application only seems to accrue CPU time when I'm actively working at the computer. Why is that?

I fully admit to being Windows illiterate. When I leave my home Windows XP machine and come back 20 hours later, almost no CPU time has accrued to the Einstein application. But as I watch the BOINC manager window while I'm working (like now) CPU time is being adding in almost real time.

What's up? I want Einstein to use the CPU when I'm not, but it is only using it when I'm using it also.

Thanks.
Richard

It sounds like you installed as a single user when you intended to install as a service (or shared install).

I don't log off, but after a while Windows makes me log in again.
My other apps continue running during this process. It appears to
be doing what Window calls "Switch Users" but not "Log Off"

In any case, does this mean I have to uninstall BOINC and reinstall as
a service or shared install?

Thanks,
Richard

Since you are using fast user switching and a secure desktop I highly recommend installing as a service, any other type of install in that enviroment has to be watched too closely. You may be able to just 'repair' the install to change to the service but if you have to uninstall and reinstall there are normally no ill effects. If you want to use the BOINC screensaver you will have to change the service to the local system account and allow interaction with the desktop.
