I'm a planning-engineer, i plan and set up big high-available clusters for Telcos. (anything between dual-node Sun Fire v890 through multiple-node Primepower 2500 clusters).
It's mostly IT-planning, engineering work and some bits of project-management.

Not so! I drove for Bekins Van Lines in college and carried my Temster's card for years. I took a cut in pay when I graduated from college and became an accountant! I found drivers, at least at that time, hard working and always willing to help a stranded motorist (especially if she was good looking or an elderly person). Nothing lowly about the Kinghts of the Road.

Hello MICHAEL! Oh, I was just throwing out a stereotype... tongue in cheek :P I can't knock the job, countries would grind to a halt w/o those to transport the goods. Funny you should mention accounting... I took an accountancy class (college level) in high school and planned on going on to college to be a C.P.A. but... that's a story for another day.
I work for Housing and Urban Development (HUD). My daily activities consist of supervising a prison inmate work crew in various aspects of maintenance on government housing and the surrounding property.
I am a retired D.O.T. inspector...and I agree, of all these occupations, without the truck drivers of the world this entire planet would grind to a halt. :')smile(': might be nice to watch. Kind of an EMP of 18 wheelers.
I'm 68 and I have been working since I was your age zc Science. I graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and worked summers as a waiter. Went to college for a semester and decided I wanted to be a journalist...so I became a journalist and then and editor. I also moonlighted editing translations of papers for the first Geneva Atomic energy convention.
My next job (if one may call it that) was as a stand-up comedian which I did for a couple of years until I met my wife (She Who Must Be Obeyed} and after a brief stint as production manager of a magazine I got into the computer field. This was in 1967 and I gradually got into system design and project management for Government clients. After 20 years of that I burnt out and quit the field.
Spent some time as a business development consultant and then, for something completely different, I bought a paint store with my son. Ten years of heavy lifting finally broke me and I sold the business and retired. Now I let my PC's do the crunching while I play poker.
Good luck to you. Study hard and you'll achieve your goal (of course you'll need to choose your goal).
Well -- I too, am a retired individual. Prior to that, I was an electronics engineer, specializing in electrical instrumentation and controls for use in Navy surface ships ...
