hello
I'm not sure, but it seems to me that ever seance windows10 did the update to os build 10.586 all 3 of my computers running boinc have had the same issue. two are running einstein and one is running milkyway@home. all 3 are taking 3 to 4 times what it use to take. then again it just might be boinc, they did upgrade the algorithm around the same time that all this started. i know this does not help you out but it does help to know why. now if only we could get a real reason for it so we could get back up to speed, would be nice.
Cheers,
Gary.

Could a new build of Windows10 be slowing my computers down? - N
)
Hi wade,
Welcome to the Einstein message boards. Thank you for your contribution.
I've taken a look at both your computers crunching here. I can't comment on what might be happening at Milkyway. It's absolutely fine to ask questions like this but it's best to start your own thread UNLESS you are sure your own experience/question is directly related to an existing thread you are posting in. It makes it harder for the original poster to get the answers needed if the thread has been taken off in a different direction. So, I've taken the liberty of creating this new thread and moving your post here. You should consider yourself as the 'owner' of this thread. Feel free to ask any further questions you wish concerning the performance of your hosts.
In your case, the apparent slowdown you think you see might simply be due to the fact that your hosts are now crunching for different science runs, particularly the new GW science run, where the tasks do take a lot longer. If you need more information about the current science runs, there is this sticky thread in the 'Getting started' forum which may be of assistance. I should point out I know nothing about Windows10 or when the 10.586 update happened, or what effects it may have had on crunching. However I would be extremely surprised if a slowdown of the magnitude you suggest was a direct consequence of the update without some other factor being involved. Nobody else seems to be reporting this.
This is a link to the full tasks list on one of your hosts here. There are three different types of tasks showing there, FGRP4, FGRPB1 and O1AST20-100T. The last one is the new GW science run and indeed it takes a lot longer. FGRPB1 has replaced FGRP4 and that new run is taking a little less than the one it replaced. The important fact is that there is no evidence of any recent slowdown (not even a small slowdown) in any of these runs on that host. They all seem to be taking pretty much the expected times for your hardware. If I'm overlooking something, can you point to a specific example?
Cheers,
Gary.
