Hi,
I had a "Computation Error" only with Global Correlation S5 Application, running on a amd64 machine with linux squeeze testing, kernel 2.6.32-trunk-amd64.
On the standard error output of the shell that starts boinc:
libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work
An
apt-get install ia32-libs
seems to have fixed the problem.
Someone should fix this in the installation procedure of BOINC.

It is not a problem per se. And it is definitely not a problem of BOINC. The "problem" is, that E@H does not distribute 64 Bit applications.
In Windows 32 Bit apps run out of the box on 64 Bit OS !?
Certain (all) Linux distributions require you to install 32 Bit compatibility libs on your own.
BTW. I do not think that we would gain anything performance-wise from 64 Bit E@H apps. So it is only a matter on convenience.

Hi Mickael,
Thanks a lot for your answer.
I have my first GCS5 WU finished: at last, it works !
I still think that the BOINC installer for linux should check for ia32 package installation.
It is disappointing for newcomers to BOINC that Arecibo applications work fine and GCS5 always produce errors if ia32 is not installed and pthread_cancel is called (the WU is suspended by the user of by the scheduler).
I have a question that you may answer: I have BOINC installed on several computers, some that I use a lot every days, others that I use one hour per day: those are not used and powerful enough to compute a GCS5 WU in the deadline time, so I would like to dispatch the GCS5 WU to some computers and Arecibo WU to others. Do you have an idea of how this could be done ?
Thanks,
Nicolas
