Just started first task with einstein project. "to completion" column is counting up in minutes and seconds. And then every minute or so it glitches and the minutes go down one or two??????????????????? Is this a known bug?
Thanx,
Bruce

"to completion" einstein only

It's not a bug, it's doing this by design.

You have just started Einstein so BOINC doesn't know yet how long any given task will take on your computer. There are no set times, what you see is the Estimated time to completion. Once BOINC has had a couple of these, all of around the same length, will it show the ETC a lot more accurate.

So just let it go. Eventually it'll get there.

Also, if you look carefully,

Also, if you look carefully, you'll notice that the %age done ("Progress") is quantized - it goes up in jumps of about 0.083%, several seconds apart. That's because each Einstein workunit is calculated in (about) 1,200 separate parts, and the progress is only updated at the end of each part.

Early in a workunit, you'll see the time 'To completion' creep upwards, because BOINC is worried about the apparent lack of progress: then, when the 0.083% quantum is added to the %age done, the time to completion drops down (as you have noticed).

It isn't exactly a bug, but it's the result of a misunderstanding between BOINC (which expects progress to be made smoothly, every second), and the current Einstein application, which is lumpy.
