Hi all,
After upgrade to Boing Manager 5.2.7, I can't upload any results. The message follows:
15/11/2005 01:49:37 p.m.|Einstein@Home|Scheduler request to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi failed with a return value of 500
Any ideas?
Thank you

Check your firewall - you may need to configure it to permit the new BOINC program.

Hi,
Error 500 is a server error, so I think firewall is ok. Previous Boinc was working without problem (version 5 also).
Just to check firewall, new version uses different ports than previous versions?
Thank you!!

My earlier response was just "a shot in the dark". That is, firewall configuration is a common issue after program upgrades and I was "just guessing" it might be your problem as well. (Some firewall programs do not recognize program upgrades and would require a BOINC upgrade to be manually re-permitted in the same way it required the first BOINC program installation to be permitted.) As to port usage, I really doubt that there has been any change since your previous BOINC 5 version (although I don't know for sure).
As to your "500 Error", unless you happened to encounter a very temporary problem with an Einstein server (which you could check by trying to "Update" using BOINC Manager), I would suspect that you may have encountered a problem with your last BOINC installation. When I upgraded to BOINC 5.2.7 last week, my installation did not work initially (although my error was NOT the same as yours). I first reinstalled BOINC using the "Repair" option. That didn't work. I then removed/reinstalled using the original download. That also didn't work. Finally, I downloaded the BOINC installer again, used it to "Remove" BOINC, and then used it to "Install" it again. That worked.

Another update. The work is completed, transferred (in tranfer tab appears with 100% progress), but in work tab is still in sending state.
Thanks for any clue!!

That may be OK. Please read Message boards : Cruncher's Corner : Updates and see if your computer is acting as described there.
EDIT: There may be some kind of problem with the Einstein server right now. I just did an "Update" (because I had a WU "Ready to report") and got some "red" error messages and deferrals.
EDIT2: The second (automatic) attempt to communicate with the Einstein server(after the deferral) worked OK.

The older versions didn't really use TCP ports 1043 and 31416, whereas the new versions do. At least allow boinc.exe on port 80 TCP, while boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe need to be allowed access on 1043 (local) and 31416 (local) for the network.

Well Ageless, seems that there is the problem. I've dongraded to version 4 and its working again!!!
Will freeze the upgrade until I can check firewall/desktop ports.
Stick, Ageless,
Thank you for your time!!

I just noticed that you are still using the older version of the Beta App (Einstein 0.03). Coincidently, another user of 0.03 posted a problem recently on this thread: Message boards : Problems and Bug Reports : E@H crashes on graphics request. It's a different problem but it also involves a recent upgrade to BOINC 5.2.X. We recommended changing to the latest Beta (Einstein 0.18) and trying again. You might want to do the same.
