When I change the (presumably) default settings for Reminder and Connections in Boinc Options, nothing is saved. (there isn't a save button, and closing the drop-down window loses them).

I run windbag xp sp2.
My everyday account is set up as LUA. I've tried -
1. Logon to the a/c with Admin authority and make changes - nothing saved.
2. Give my everyday a/c Admin authority, logon, and make changes - nothing saved.

Boinc is installed in the usual Program Files directory, not an 'All Users/Documents/subdirectory'.

I only started a couple of weeks ago. What am I doing wrong?

Fermat,

Maybe you didn't click the "update preferences" button at the very bottom of the edit page? Or, if you did do that, they may be just waiting to be sent to the server. You can do that by selecting/highlighting wihchever is the current running project on the Projects tab, then click "Update" on the left panel.

Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael, I guess I didn't

Hi Michael,
I guess I didn't explain too well.
I'm not talking about my account preferences at einstein@home.
It's the Options selection from the menu bar in Boinc Manager which is running on my PC.

Mike,

Sorry. I should have read closer and noticed that. My bad.

If you don't get an answer

If you don't get an answer here, you might try the BOINC boards, under "BOINC Manager" section. I haven't seen this problem mentioned before either here _or_ there, but possibly someone else has...

Thanks Bill, I've searched

Thanks Bill,
I've searched the Boinc & einstein boards without success, and thought I'd try here first.

Hi Jim,
Unfortunately the section of Step by Step Guide that I need - Configuring Your Computer, Your Accounts, and Preference Settings When Running BOINC Powered Projects - is still under construction ..... :-(

I'm probably going to change my connection setup soon, and I wanted to try and find out how the Boinc client and a/c settings (Network usage section) on the einstein server interact before I take the plunge. Years of bitter experience have taught me that Murphy was an optimist.

I'd say, forego the BOINC

I'd say, forego the BOINC forums and post it directly on the developers email listing. You are saying you do not see the OK and Cancel buttons on the window there, correct? Dr. Anderson is interested in people who see this, so you need to post what BOINC version uou use, for what OS, what your screen resolution is etc.

Please post this at the BOINC developers email listing. You do need to register before you get access to the list.

Jord,

We listen to you here. To do otherwise is to run a great risk of missing out on a piece of valuable information to add to our tookit of knowledge.
