Can't finish work units anymore...

Am I wasting my time and the project's time? My computer formerly processed work units in reasonable time, given that the computer doesn't run 24 hours. Now BOINC reports that a work unit requires 24 hours or more of CPU time, and I haven't had a work unit complete before the deadline in months. Not a high-powered machine, but it is a 2.8 GHz P4 with 2GB RAM.

Perhaps I need to seek a project that can make use of my meager hardware...

How often is this computer on and processing work? Even a result claiming it could take 24 hours could complete with only 105 minutes (1.75 hours) per day across 14 days. If you only have the system in use during "work days", that would cut it down to 10 days, which still means only 2.4 hours per day...

In addition to what Brian wrote, what strikes me is that the last sign of life the project got from your P4 was on Dec. 23 2007, no contact since. Please also check the network connection and your network related settings, e.g. make sure automatic network connections are enabled in the settings (also in the
client GUI).

Your P4 should really be doing fine, either it's prevented from crunching (see Brian's post) or from communicating with the E@H server. I suspect that whatever causes this will also apply to other projects.
