I was able to download this file previously, but now, starting boinc with a clean /var/db/boinc/projects/*ein*
directory (save for app_info.xml), I get repeated failures to load this file.
Any ideas as to what/where it went?
And, no, I do not wish to run the Linux version of boinc, so don't even go there.
Thanks,
Bruce

When you use the anonymous platform mechanism (ie when using app_info.xml) you are supposed to supply all the executables (that came with the app_info.xml file) yourself, since that is what the mechanism is all about. The version you mention came out last November and was replaced in February with a later version (4.34) documented here. Also, if you check back around last November on the same message board, you will find the thread that documented the older 4.18 version.
If you use the anonymous platform mechanism, you should make a note of the various threads that document the particular apps you are interested in so you can keep yourself abreast of developments from time to time. Unfortunately, that's the price of using those particular non-standard apps. If you ever need to do a fresh install you have to supply everything that came in the original package with the app_info.xml file.
The only possible problem with the new 4.34 version is that it will only run on SSE capable hardware. All the machines showing in your list of hosts are SSE capable so you should be good to go. The new version is quite a deal faster than the older one so you should be very happy with it. The link to get it is in the above linked thread.
Cheers,
Gary.

Thank you, Gary, for the pointers. I did not realize that the app was included as part of the port for FreeBSD, which is not only out of date, but the symbol versioning in FreeBSD 7.0 breaks the compatibility to FreeBSD 5.x, which is needed to run einstein.
Anyway, I have dropped back to FreeBSD 6.3, and the new app seems to be runing well.
Thank you, again.
