can't connect to localhost

When you do it, leave the 2 items empty, and it should work better.

If not, make sure BOINC is running, so that the Boinc Manager can connect to it.

I recently switched over to

I recently switched over to using the iMac G5 iSight PPC, I encountered this problem :

Not quite sure what is happening with the get_local_network_info.
I don't know if it's the way I have installed Boinc or a problem with
my G5 configuration. This keeps showing up, I have tried the Unix
commandline client, as well as Boinc Manager....any help, suggests.
advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in adavance
Xi3.....

Well, just in case anyone is interested, or may be experiencing
the same problem, I just edited my etc/hosts file and added
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost xxxxxxx.local
x= hostname.

I then re-attached to boinc e@h and got the following:

2006-03-31 01:46:37 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.44 for powerpc-apple-darwin
2006-03-31 01:46:37 [---] Data directory: /Users/jaco/boinc

2006-03-31 01:46:37 [---] No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults
2006-03-31 01:46:37 [---] Insufficient work; requesting more

So far everything seems ok....

Sorry for the redundancy, hope this may help someone.

My BOINC Manager is having

My BOINC Manager is having trouble connecting to a BOINC client today. When I go to Select a Computer Option form the pull down menu, it asks for a host name. Not sure what to put here, but when I put 'localhost' into the hostname field, a long password automatically populates the lower field with black dots. Clicking okay results in further error messages that BOINC Manager is not able to connect to a BOINC Client. Would you like to try again?

I could do that all day and nothing would change. Could someone here more knowledgeable provide a simple explanation to fix this seemingly endless loop?

Try leaving the 2 boxes empty. If this does not work, then I suspect BOINC itself may not be running, or something else has hosed up, then a reboot may help.

In my case, Boinc was simply

In my case, Boinc was simply not running in daemon. A ran the command "boinc --daemon" instead of "boinc"
