Do you have a firewall installed? Make sure port 1043 is open. (I think that is the correct port. correct me if I am wrong.)

also, are you on dial-up or broadband? I see that you are using Windows. Which particular version of Win?

Boinc.exe only needs port 80 open to the internet to be able to reach the server and get information back.

Ports 1043 ands 31416 (reserve in case 1043 is in use) are only taken by Boinc.exe and Boincmgr.exe to communicate with eachother on the local network (or computer). So port 1043 doesn't need to be open to the internet.

Although apparently ZoneAlarm wants it to, as it doesn't see a difference between local connections and those to the internet. So if you have ZoneAlarm as the firewall, you best let Boinc.exe and Boinmgr.exe through on those ports they ask for.
