My computer seems to not be connecting to the server or at least not getting a response.
I have been getting messages like this for several days now.

You machine has gotten and send back data several times a day every day, until today. The server thinks you have 2 units it is working on. The last time the log files show a connection is yesterday. Nothing seems to look wrong from this end.
There seems to have not been any request today. Unsure why you would be getting that error over the past day. Did Windows do some auto updates? Have to run updates on any of your virus or firewall software? Has anything else changed?

I had a guy in from Bellsouth (my service provider) and he checked the system to see why I had some unrelated problems. I know he reconfigured how the computer talks to the router. I think this problem started before he made changes.

As Pooh Bear was implying, your problem looks like it is due to a Firewall set-up issue or Proxy set-up issue. Are you using the Windows Firewall? If so, make sure BOINC is checked as an exception (via the Windows Firewall control panel). If the set-up problem is a proxy issue (not as likely), you can find your current settings under the Internet Explorer "Tools" menu - "Internet Options" - "Connections" tab, then "LAN Settings". If proxy is checked, copy the settings exactly and enter them in BOINC under the Advanced/Options menu. If IE does not indicate you are using a "Proxy", make sure that neither of the BOINC "Proxy" boxes are checked.
EDIT: Something a little more "basic" to check - make sure you haven't inadvertently told BOINC to "Suspend network activity".
